CHICAGO QUARTERLY REVIEW GUIDELINES

The writer’s voice ought to be clear and unique and should reveal something of what it means to be human. We want stories that above all reflect an appreciation for the rhythm and music of language, work that shows passion and commitment to the art of writing.

We accept short stories, personal essays, poetry, literary translations, photographs and black and white prints of artwork. Please do not submit more than one story at a time. We read simultaneous submissions. We do not accept previously published work.

LENGTH
Short Stories: up to 5000 words
Nonfiction: up to 5000 words
Poetry: 3-5 poems
Photos: Black and white only, maximum 5 photos
Prints: Black and white only, maximum 5 prints

Please keep the letter brief, but include all necessary contact information. If a submission is accepted, we will contact the writer by email.

FORMATTING
Double spaced, standard font, no unusual formats for prose pieces.
